Syracuse University’s football program is undergoing significant roster turnover as several players have entered the NCAA transfer portal during the spring window, which remains open until April 25.

Among the most notable departures is wide receiver Trebor Pena, who led the team in 2024 with 84 receptions, 941 yards, and nine touchdowns. Pena’s breakout season earned him second-team All-ACC honors, and his exit leaves a major gap in Syracuse’s offensive plans. Head coach Fran Brown will now have to rely on a younger, less proven receiving corps heading into the new season.

The offensive line is also taking a hit, with David Wohlabaugh Jr. deciding to transfer. Expected to be a key contributor in 2025, Wohlabaugh’s departure adds to the challenges facing the offensive unit, which will need retooling.

In addition to Pena and Wohlabaugh, other players entering the portal include defensive lineman Xavier Miles, quarterbacks AJ Miller and Patrick Gusser, running back Jordan Montanez, and offensive linemen Willie Goodacre and Kalan Ellis. These moves highlight a broader trend of player movement within the program.

The coaching staff now faces the challenge of quickly integrating new talent and further developing current roster members to stay competitive. As the 2025 season approaches, managing roster fluidity will be a critical test for the new-look Syracuse team.
