The Boston Celtics dominated the Orlando Magic 103-86 in Game 1 of their playoff series on April 20, 2025. However, the victory came with a scare when star forward Jayson Tatum took a hard fall following a dunk attempt. During the play, Tatum was fouled by Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, causing him to land awkwardly on his right wrist.

Despite initial concerns about the injury, Tatum remained in the game after a brief evaluation by the team’s medical staff. Postgame X-rays on his wrist came back clean, with no structural damage. Tatum confirmed he was feeling fine, stating, “It’s clean, I’m good.” This injury was to his right wrist, which was not the same wrist he injured during the 2022 playoffs.

Despite the scare, Tatum played a significant role in the Celtics’ victory. He contributed 17 points, 14 rebounds, and 4 assists, showcasing his all-around game. Derrick White led the Celtics with a game-high 30 points, while Payton Pritchard added 19 points off the bench. Jaylen Brown, making his return after a knee issue, played 31 minutes and scored 16 points.

With Tatum’s injury concerns alleviated, the Celtics are now focused on building on their strong start to the series. Game 2 is scheduled for Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at TD Garden, where the Celtics will look to extend their lead over the Magic.
