Tilly Boler, a standout guard who began her collegiate basketball career at Jackson State University, has officially signed a training camp contract with the Chicago Sky, taking a major step toward a professional career in the WNBA.
A 6-foot-1 native of Meridian, Mississippi, Boler made a name for herself during her four years under coach Tomekia Reed at Jackson State. Her junior season (2022–23) was especially impressive, where she averaged 12.3 points and 4.8 rebounds per game, earning All-SWAC honors. She followed that with another strong showing in 2023–24, with averages of 11.8 points and 3.8 rebounds.
For her final collegiate season in 2024–25, Boler transferred to the University of Memphis, where she elevated her game even further. She led the team with 16.6 points per game, nailed 67 three-pointers, and shot an efficient 37.0% from beyond the arc. Her efforts earned her First Team All-AAC and All-Newcomer Team honors, solidifying her place among the nation’s top guards.
The Chicago Sky, who finished the 2024 season 10th in the WNBA with a 13–27 record, are undergoing a rebuild under head coach Teresa Weatherspoon. With the recent addition of rookies Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso, the Sky are looking to revitalize their roster and Boler’s dynamic scoring ability and versatility could play a key role in that process.
Her signing marks another major achievement for athletes coming from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), highlighting the growing respect and recognition for the talent these programs continue to develop.
As Tilly Boler enters training camp with the Chicago Sky, she carries not just the hopes of her hometown and alma maters, but also the pride of the HBCU community ready to make her mark at the next level.
