The Florida Gators received a major boost heading into next season as forward Thomas Haugh announced he will return for the 2025–26 campaign. Haugh, who played a key role during the Gators’ recent national championship run, made his decision official this week, strengthening Florida’s hopes of a repeat.
Standing at 6-foot-9, Haugh blossomed into a versatile weapon for the Gators in his sophomore season. He averaged 9.7 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game while showing steady improvement as a perimeter shooter, finishing the year at 33% from three-point range. His ability to stretch the floor and defend multiple positions made him one of Florida’s most valuable two-way players.
Haugh’s impact was most evident during the NCAA Tournament, where he elevated his play and earned All-Tournament honors in the West Region. His standout 20-point, 11-rebound performance in the Elite Eight was a turning point on Florida’s path to the title.
Opting to return to Gainesville despite gaining NBA interest, Haugh cited “unfinished business” and a desire to further develop his game as the main reasons behind his decision. His return, alongside frontcourt teammates like Alex Condon and Rueben Chinyelu, positions the Gators as one of the early favorites to contend for another deep postseason run.
Head coach Todd Golden praised Haugh’s leadership and growth, calling him “a cornerstone of our program’s culture and future success.”
With Haugh back in the fold, Florida fans have plenty of reasons to be excited about what’s ahead. The Gators will not just be defending their crown, they will be hunting for even more history.
